The Bartlett Presbyterian Church, originally built in 1899, was once a place of worship and congregation. The building sat abandoned for nearly 50 years and was on the verge of being unsalvageable as it continued to fall into disrepair. Graced by hope, the legacy and beauty of the Church are being restored and converted into an angelic home.
The Church is a historically designated building that stands out for its iconic German architecture. German columns and the original bible box have been painstakingly preserved on the interior. Additionally, each window was individually reglazed and restored by a local craftsman to maintain the architectural character of the Church.
Pieces of the original 120-year-old wallpaper were found within the walls and used as inspiration for the paint color and decor throughout the building. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a loft, and a kitchen have been added while the archetypal choir loft remains intact and the open sanctuary space remains unaltered and serves as a living room.
Despite permitting challenges and delays, the Church restoration continues as planned. Upon completion, there will be an open house, and the citizens of Bartlett will be welcome to marvel at the beauty and careful preservation of this historic landmark.
